More about this scene

Felton stands on the north bank of the Coquet, and it was here that the Great North Road once crossed the river by way of the old bridge featured in the picture. The bridge, complete with pedestrian refuges, is thought to be 15th-century: some of the houses facing the bridge date from the early 17th to early 19th centuries.
