More about this scene
This house was built in the 1850s. Parts of the estate, some 571 acres, were being offered as building plots by 1920, and were sold to developers by 1935. Pre-war Green Belt laws enabled Essex County Council to block planning permission, and they acquired the site in 1937 and demolished the house in 1940.
