My Grandfather William Lawson died at a place described on his death certificate as The Hostel, High Street, Bentham. Grandfather was from Liverpool this was 7th May 1941 can anyone tell me what was the hostel, was it a pub ? or a place to stay.
My father was evacuated to Bentham during WW2. He had relatives who owned the Wenning Hotel. His name was Peter Townson. Does anyone have any memories of him? Long shot I know!
My grandparents were George an d Molly postlethwaite they lived in the square up at the top of the main road which has now got modern homes built their, George was a cobbler by trade. They had 3 children James,( Jim.) kitty and Jenny Molly was a wearing I think does any one remember them?
My name is Chris Procter, son of Tom and Joyce Procter of Mount Pleasant, High Bentham. My Grandparents, Richard and Ada lived at Roseneath, Goodenber Road. I remember playing in Goodenber Road on many occasions that i visited and stayed at their house. I remember playing in the loft that had a rocking horse and a Second World War Flying hat (leather).
