Share your own memories of Hounslow and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

Doreen Jewess, Pat Bezant, Pat Sharman, Rita Bolton and myself would often walk from Midsummer Avenue past the little park at the top, past the horse trough at the Wellington where the trolley buses turned round and carried on past the Holly Grove, past the Baptist church over Grove Road which most of us attended the school past the Butchers Institute when we would arrive at the Regal cinema. If we didn't like ...see more
Does anyone remember The Lawns a row of old houses ,now gone .on the Bath Road Hounslow. near the bell and the car park, High street end. The bus stops there now ,in the car park.
If it was a confectionary shop as if it's the same shop; we used to get off the bus from school & buy sweets from the shop.
I was born in the house right opposite this shop, there was a butchers next door to our house. I remember the shop when it was owned by Mr Stevens in 1946. My father helped make ice cream in the back of the shop, he would then place it in an ice cabinet in his side-car and go out selling it. In the early 60's the shop was taken over by Mr Ferguson, he and his wife were there for about ten years, a really nice couple, I ...see more
Hello people of Hounslow. I was born in Hounslow in 1973, I went to Hounslow Heath nursery infants and junior school. Wonder if anyone remembers the lovely lollipop lady Mrs Gladys Eagle? Sadly, she passed away a couple of years ago. I live in Weymouth now I'm married and my surname was Flower before I married. Hello to anyone who may know me.
Although I was born in Isleworth I went to school in Hounslow, firstly to Hounslow Town School in Pears Road in 1960 and then onto Bulstrode Girls school in 1964. We were the first class in the new school but started our first term in one of the huts as the new school was not completed. I remember there being a coal burner but it was always freezing. I don't think the kids of today would put up with it (I ...see more

I have fond memories of Hounslow, I was born and lived on the Bath Road, near the Windsor castle pub, many a time I used to stand outside the pub waiting for my parents, with a bottle of coke and a packet of crisps. I went to Wellington school and also Hounslow Manor. My early memories of going to Hounslow west on a Saturday morning to the Odeon for Saturday morning pictures, then in the afternoon going to the toy shop! ...see more
I was born in 1944 and I was then, Pat Wilson. I lived in Heath Road and attended Chatsworth School, when Mr Killick was the headmaster. Miss Milner was head of the infants school. I remember swimming lessons at Hounslow Baths. Myself and another young pupil were responsible for walking a group of children there for their lesson. Something that would never be allowed today. From this school I went to The Green School. My ...see more
A further up date of memories of Hounslow/Happy days Gone By. The infant school was based on Martindale Road and was called Hounslow Heath Infant and Nursery School. My sister went to the Junior School in Trinity Close. The store on Barrack Road next to the junction of Martindale Road was owned by a family called the Smiths who I think were husband and wife and were in their late forties ...see more
