More about this scene
Brass bands played regularly in the bandstand, which was erected in the early 1930s. The chained-off area was reserved for the paying audience, who could hire folding chairs; but free concerts could be enjoyed by anybody who sat on the grass outside the inner circle. The path through the park was supposed to follow the route of a Roman road.
