More about this scene

Southgate is the only surviving gate of the three that used to give access to the old walled town. The sycamore tree was cut down amid great hue and cry in 1953 because it was thought to be damaging the arch. The steep little street next to Jesse S Raddall (now a bistro called Three Steps to Heaven) is Angel Hill.
