The bronze bust of Arthur Sullivan of Gilbert and Sullivan fame was erected in Victoria Embankment Gardens in 1903. The weeping figure of Music leans on the plinth, and the inscription on the side reads: 'Is liefe a boon?/If so it must befall/That death when e'er he call/Must call too soon.' This is a quotation from Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Yeomen of the Guard'.
