More about this scene

The old mill dates from the 15th century. What is thought to be the oldest inhabited house in Cheshire is also near Alderley Edge: the stone-built portion of Chorley Hall is thought to date from about 1330, the remainder being Elizabethan.

Great Times
In the late 1960s and early 1970s I stayed here for my school hols, my grandmother worked for Mr and Mrs Bodd who were the owners at the time. My grandparants lived in part of the house round the side which in itsself was large. Village Shop, Nether Alderley
It is often stated that the village shop was also the Post Office, but this is not true. There was a letter box (bar) in the wall, but the nearest Post Office was at Monk's Heath. The village shop was very small but sold a variety of products from chicken feed to postcards.

Fire Damage.
The Smithy was destroyed by fire about 1900. A new Smithy was built in its place.

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
