My Stay In Cuddington Hospital.
A Memory of Nork.
In 1949 there was a large outbreak of Scarlet Fever in the U.K. I was just four years old and was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. I was admitted to Cuddington (I lived in Banstead) and spent the next five weeks there. I remember that the ward I was in had long lines of beds along each wall with a nurse's station in the middle of the room. I had my fifth birthday whilst in the hospital. I was not allowed any visitors so my birthday presents were given to me by the nurses. I was only allowed to see my parents through a window. When I left the hospital all my presents were destroyed as nothing could be removed from the premises to prevent further infection.
Great times!!
