A Memory of Northumberland Heath.

Does anyone remember Len's butchers on the heath? or the Spar opening and Mrs Graham who worked part time in the cake shop? I have wonderful memories of my childhood, I'm 58 now but remember it all so very well.... and the cottage hospital where I used to end up all the time!!! Playing out and the path way to Erith by the quarry, birch walk, I could go on forever because I remember so much. Just dont have photos of that time so I'm so happy to have found these sights.

Don't have photo's as a camera was a bit of a luxury in my time in "Norf Eaf", but share your memories. Got chased out of the gravel pit on many occasions and bolted through the woods onto Carlton Road only to be met by the security bloke in his car! 8th Erith scout hut was a bit of a hiding place for me. I am talking late 50's/early 60's!
I was taken to the Cottage Hospital on a few occasions. I remember the circus over in the rec on Brook Street and Saturday Morning at the Odeon and the Ritz before that.
As a stroppy teenager you could find me underage drinking in The Pheasant, Duchess, Duke of Northumberland, Great Harry and generally anywhere that I thought no one knew me and tell my mum and dad!!
Good days!
Oh, I am John Wilson, Brook Street 1950 to 1969.
