More about this scene
This settlement probably got its name from Andrew Wysmon, a tenant knight at the time of Edward II's reign. The large extension at the back of the inn (right) contained seven bedrooms with doors onto the beach. During the Second World War the beach was used by troops preparing for the D-Day landings, and Winston Churchill enjoyed a cup of tea at the inn.
