Shipley, Crowghyll Park 1903

More about this scene
Crowghyll Park was opened to the residents on 31 May 1890 following a civic ceremony led by Mrs Titus Salt. The land was formerly a quarry, and was given to the town by church administrators in lieu of common rights. The charming bandstand was illuminated by gas light at this time. Following the demolition of Shipley Old Hall in Kirkgate, parts of the building - a wall, water chutes and a roof truss - were re-erected in this park.
