More about this scene

During the first half of the 19th century a number of churches were built to meet the needs of South Shield's growing population. The Presbyterian Church, Frederick Street, was built in 1847; Holy Trinity, Laygate, was earlier, having been built in 1832-34 to the designs of Anthony Salvin. Both have since been demolished.
