A Very Early Memory Of Mine.

A Memory of Stonehenge.

This would be around the first time I visited Stonehenge - I have a clear memory of sitting on the stone in the foreground. My father was a sergeant major (REME) at the local army base, Aldershot?, in the early to mid sixties.
I rather rebelled against my military background, & my next few visits to Stonehenge were for the Free Festival at the Summer Solstice, from the late '70's on.
The 'shock horror' news headlines of the times was typical tabloid fodder. Going on about an unwashed hippy invasion. That raised a smile with the group I used to go down with - we were Civil Servants, lab technicians, MoD scientists, council staff, most of us very white collar.
A lot of the blokes went down on motorbikes, with the camping gear. Hire vans packed to the gills, some of the girls would hitch hike down in pairs, as it was easier for them to get a lift.
