Turvey, The Three Cranes Hotel c.1950

More about this scene
Originally known as 'The Chequers', the building style established by the Higgins family is strongly evident in the hotel. Note the old Cyclists Touring Club seal of approval carried above the front entrance. Birds figure strongly in the coats of arms for many landed Bedfordshire families, and it is likely that the cranes of the hotel's sign were borrowed from one of them.
