More about this scene
In this picture, Baines`s (in the distance, left) was still flourishing. Like Finchingfield, this village is based around a triangular green - though Wethersfield`s is smaller than it once was, owing to road widening. During the Second World War, there was an encampment of the Black Watch Regiment here: they kept their armoured vehicles on the green, and had their canteen in the village hall.
