Caption for Widnes, Victoria Square C1965: The original intention was that there should be a tower on top of the Town Hall but the local people felt it looked quite grand enough as it was and so did not bother to add it. They saved some money too. This comes as a surprise because Widnesians will tell you it's the folk across the water in Runcorn who are always very careful with their money!

I was born in major cross st in 1947,then in1953 lived in Smith rd and stated at st Maries . I would like to see any photos from that time at st Maries i did have some but now long gone.

I was born in 1958 and lived in the flats in Bancroft Road. From around 1963 to 1966 I went to Warrington Road Infants School .
