Here again we see a road that is now overhung with mature trees and was formerly clear of undergrowth. The hill leads from the Bear Hotel down to the A46 and on to North Woodchester, visible in the distance. Out of sight on the far hill to the right lie the remains of a 66-roomed Roman villa, with a superb, though incomplete, Orpheus mosaic.
