Yardley Hastings, The Square c.1955

More about this scene
This view looks from Little Street into the somewhat grandly named The Square, where now the central tree is a forlorn stump. The house beyond, now enlarged, is the National Youth Resources Centre for the United Reformed Church. Young people can stay here either in single rooms or small dormitories. Next to it is the United Reformed Church, rebuilt in 1813 to replace an earlier church that was destroyed by fire.
