The old water tower forms an interesting backdrop to a pleasure steamer heading upstream. From the 1880s to the 1930s, taking a steamer trip from Worcester was an enormously popular pastime. Boats travelled upriver to Stourport (the northern limit of navigation) or downriver as far as Tewkesbury.
