Memories of Dagenham

I used to live in the little cottages at the bottom of Chequers Lane. 7 of us in a 2 up 2 down, outside loo - no bathroom. I was born in Upney hospital in July 1947 and lived in a prefab at 703 Ripple Road. Opposite was a bone/scrap yard and along the road the Ship & Shovel pub.
