More about this scene
A glorious array of colour greeted visitors to this part of the town, which had something for everyone. At the time it was home to the Carry On film star Charles Hawtry, who no doubt visited the Corner Parlour (left) for a cup of tea or coffee. Next door is the Beachbrook Hotel and a fishing tackle shop. A long pier off to the right offered amusements and a superb place to fish.
