As we move further away from the industrialised regions, the equable climate and fertility of the soil begin to show themselves in the lush meadows and woodland. In the foreground is the recently-built council estate: as with all such estates, owing to financial considerations, the houses were all identical. Over to the left of the picture can be seen the railway line heading north to Carmarthen.

My Dad's Home
This is a memory as told by my grandmother Alice Irene Rees. She was born and lived most of her life in Ferryside. My father was born here in 1944, the second child born to her and husband, Cynwyd Rees. Her stories of this road are as fresh as the day she relayed them to me. The Church My Parents Were Married In
My parents married in this church in 1951, mum had been brought up in the village from birth by her parents (David and Gwen Bowen) and after marrying my dad, moved up to Sheffield. It was a quaint village from my recollections where everyone knew each other. I spent many holidays here with my brother and parents and so many of the photos are so familiar. Wonderful Friends
I lived in Ferryside for a year in 1956/7. I made some lovely friends, but there was one special friend, her name was Moreen Marks, she lived with her parents at the bottom of the road that runs past the church. Her sister Megan lived next door with her husband. Moreen and some of the other friends would meet at the cafe/shop that was at the edge of the railway gates to dance the night away!!! Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
