I was sorry to see this photo of Fleet Pond labelled incorrectly as The Lake. Lakes are natural features, whereas ponds have normally been created by man. The two ponds which used to exist in Fleet (one was filled in with spoil when the motorway was built nearby) were created by monks as fish ponds for the Bishop of Winchester.
