Martock, Cross And Town Hall 1900

More about this scene
To the north-east is the charming market town of Martock with its triangular market place. The Market Cross, in fact a fluted Doric column surmounted by a sundial, was erected in 1741, not long after the Market Hall. Both are in golden Ham stone; the Market Hall has a Venetian first-floor window above the pedimented doorway. Manor Place, to the right, still has its magnolia tree, and the West Somerset Stores behind the Market Hall is now an estate agents.
