Nostalgic memories of Northolt's local history

Share your own memories of Northolt and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

I was born at 13 Percival Road Feltham and went to Feltham Hill School up to Dec 1949 when we moved to Bedfont, so I then went to Southville School, then Fairholme and Longford, and in 1954 to Twickenham Tech. Used to go to the Feltham Youth club by the Rec.
I moved to Northolt from Greenford in 1960 aged 6, to the Racecourse Estate and lived at no 15, Plumpton Close with my mum and dad and sister Corinne and brother Clifford. Our little road was all families with small children so we had lots of friends to play with. Next door to us at no 11 were the ‘Bulls’, May and Basil with Ray, Ron, Richard and Ruth. On the other side at no.17 were the Williams, the ...see more
Hi, I used to live in Newbury Way. I liked going over the park playing football. I would like to hear from anyone who used to lived there, plus who went to Vincent Secondary Modern School.
There was a murder of a barmaid from The White Hart at Yeading, I think it was in the late 1960s or early 1970s. Does anybody know the year and if the murderer was ever found?
Our family moved to Northolt (Mildred Avenue) around 1956 from Harlesden and I left in 1978. I have great memories of Wood End infants/junior school. Playing near Northolt Park Station and anoying the station master who we lovingly called 'Beetroot'. Cricket/Football on the racecourse with my brother and friends. 2nd Northolt Cubs was fun, as was a walk up the parade to do some shopping. I still have a fishing rod ...see more
Does anyone remember playing at Northolt airport in the 1950s? I seem to remember they had a huge play area and it was very busy on Sunday afternoons.
I grew up in Northolt. Dad was a school caretaker at Woodend School, Witton Avenue in the 1960s. The secondary school is no longer there as it's been demolished but the junior and infants still remains. The big field at the back of the school just used to be fields but now there is a housing estate. Oh how times change. I would love to hear from any one who knows anything about it.
I no longer live in Northolt. I was born in Newbury Close in which I had a happy time, there was always somthing to do on the estate. I then moved to Academy Gardens, which weren't so happy. I remember being at Islip Manor infants'; school and my welfare lady being Mrs Porter.
