More about this scene
The road from the village leads to Lodge Park, some two miles away from the spot photographed here. Recently restored to its former 17th-century glory, the lodge was designed as a grandstand for Sir John Dutton, a friend of Oliver Cromwell, for viewing deer coursing in the extensive parkland.
