When I Was Young

I remember i was about 10 when a works bus hit somebody's house wall and knocked it on top of me , my mam and dad was working and my eldest sister was told not to answer the door to anyone , the workmen on the bus rescued me and I was carried to Mrs Williams house that lived opposite me in cwrt coch street, I was lucky I only had a thick lip and grazed leg I was taken to aberbargoed hospital by 2 doctors in a black ...see more

1950’s Memories

I was born in William St, Fleur-de-Lys in 1950. My mother Mavis Mason and father Ivor Jones were both from Commercial Street Aberbargoed. Dad started work in Bargoed Colliery in 1936, after leaving Lewis school Pengam, where his father William Henry Jones and one of his bothers Emlyn (later group manager for NCB) had also worked.
