This photograph shows the statue of King Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria, at the corner of Union Street and Union Terrace. Union Terrace Gardens is a park in the heart of the city of Aberdeen, set to one side of Union Terrace. At the end of the terrace are three impressive buildings—the Central Library, His Majesty's Theatre and St Mark's Church. They are known locally as 'Education, Damnation and Salvation'.

Scottish Ancestors
My Morgan ancestors seemed to have originated from Old Machar which was, I believe, part of Old Aberdeen? Does this still exist now? Can anyone tell me please whether when there is a marriage does the woman keep the family name of her father's side?

Those Were The Days
July early 60's you could not move on the beach for holidaymakers, all the deck chairs would be sold out and Bill & Pat Ramsay would be playing music over the speakers. The Spartan club - weight lifters would be there - Dave Webster rings a bell, Nurse Johnston would be in the first aid/ lost childrens shelter. Jaffrays Of Kingswells
In 1997 I decided to trace my maternal family history through following the name of Jaffray, a name that had been carried down the family through the centuries, finally as a middle name. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
