Hi Chris.

You would have lived next door to us, had you lived above Read’s prior to 1966.

Our family lived above `Kennies’ , as 2A The Parade, Hall Road. which was next to Read’s. My grandmother owned `Kennies’ until 1962.

It was sad to read that all but two of the shops have gone now. Still, we have the memories of those good times, when we lived in Aveley.
When we moved there it was a couple called Fred and Lyn who had the Flat and shop as a Hardware shop, the Butcher's was Terry Edwards the Greengrocers was Ray and Dot Hearne The Grorcers I can't remember and the Fish shop.
Read Brother's was sold in 2004 after Mr Read passed away in 1999
