Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

From the ever-green valley of the Bourne (whence arose the nucleus of this resort) Bournemouth stretches for miles in either direction upon the sandy cliffs and pine-clad table-land of a gently curving bay, broken by picturesque chines. Nothing can be more snug and luxuriant than the mouth of the valley, which is here being turned into a long strip of garden, blooming with arbutus, rhododendrons and other choice shrubs.

The Gables Westbourne

Reading my Mother's notes in my 'Baby Book ' ,something seemingly not done nowadays, I was reminded that I was born in a Private nursing home, The Gables, Pine Tree Glen ,Westbourne in 1947. Now flats and ironically retirement flats. Somewhere for me to be born and die. Ha Ha. The Doctor was Dr Gallop* who had a practice in Poole, How my parents could afford it I don't know, My father was in the Navy until 1945 ...see more

Ah Those Were The Days
we moved to Montgomery ave in 1949 I remember when long rd estate was being built, we used to follow the Barber Green machine around because of the brilliant finiish of the tarmac roads.they were ideal for our roller skates. anyway to cut a long story short we were skating down hill and all the lads crouched down (I presumed for more speed) I crouched down and my cycling cape went under the skate wheels ...see more

The House Beautiful
I remember staying at The House Beautiful in the 1950’s and to me it was not a good experience and has left its mark on me all my life. I was sent there on two occasions by Social Services as my mother was recovering from an operation and no one in the family would look after me. Pinelands School, Bournemouth.
This was my first school, back in 1965. I think we had maroon blazers. I did well to start with, my older brothers had taught me to read & write - but I was the last person in the class to be able to tie my own shoelaces! I remember winning a couple of 'Biggles' books for being top in the class in my first year. A teacher had found me reading one during a lunch break in the school library. Later ...see more

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
