Hazel Grove-cum-Bramhall became a civil parish in 1900; it was made up from the older parishes of Bosden, Norbury, Offerton, Torkington, and Bramhall. About 50 years before this picture was taken, there were at least two farms off Bramhall Lane, as well as Miss Hooley's private school, Bramhall Grammar School, the consulting rooms of two physicians and surgeons, a post office, fishmonger and fruiterers, a confectioner, a grocers, a boot maker and cycle dealer, and a branch of the Lancashire & Yorkshire bank.

Happy Days
My name was Angela Noble (now Driver). I lived in Bramhall from 1951 to 1958.i went to Pownall Green School and then on to Cheadle County Grammar. I was School Captain in my final year at Primary School and also captain of the netball team. Lucerne Road
My parents decided to move to Bramhall and the estate just off Bramhall Lane was brand new and we moved into Lucerne Road. I was in Heaven even as a child I loved history there was the Park, Bramhall hall the woods I could sit for hours dreaming. Bramhall Primary 1944 48
My years at the primary were 1944-1948, after which it was King's Macc until 1957. Mr Fox was certainly familiar with the palms of my hands, probably one or two other parts of my anatomy too. Other than Fox, the only teachers I remember were a Miss(Mrs?) Bardsley and a young ex RAF guy whose name escapes me, although to this day I still remember his technique for brushing teeth: He may even have been the father ...see more

Bramhall 1950/58
Catherine! I was also at pownall green and high field with mr Williams, mr allport and another female teacher, I cannot remember, but I rememb er mr fox for all the wrong reasons. I lived in moreton avenue off lumb lane in the same area was all the peach children, Wendy whitlow, at school my mates were Jill taboada, Pam Eastwood Irene tucker and Lynn jones. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
