Only about 2 miles from Yeovil's bustle, Brympton D'Evercy is in a completely tranquil setting approached along an avenue of plane trees. It is a stunning group: the medieval church, crowned by a most unusual lantern-like belfry; a 15th-century chantry or priest's house, now a museum; and the grand country house, all in golden Ham stone. The west front, seen here, is mainly Tudor, with mullioned and transomed windows and a battlemented stair turret and parlour bay at the left. It is all surpassingly beautiful.

Memories Of Clare School 1958 62
Hi to any old Clarions out there. It truly was a great place to be a boy. There were so many characters among the boys and staff; Major Burn (or "flinty") who taught French but also great tales of WW1,Slattery or "slatts" had the quickest temper, cross country runs with "Robbo"who would literally bounce along,"Pongo" Hemmings and the slightly unusual Mr Winch. Clare Boys School
I also, was a student at Clare School in Brymton. I attended (if I recall correctly) from 1960 to 1963. The headmaster was Mr Robinson, some of the other 'masters' names were Mr Hemmings, Major Burns and Mr Gall. A beautiful place which I think we all took a bit for granted. I am now retired and living in Canada (have done for forty years). Brymton was lovely - school life was quite tough, but I was fortunate enough to make a few good friends. Where are you all now?

Clare School, I Was There...........
The summer of this year, I left Clare School at Brympton after spending a few years there. The house was an extension, but for older boys, of Clare school at East Coker Court. Clare School opened to just a few of us, Boarders and Day Boys, in the year 1957. The Headmaster and owner was Mr Bowden. It was a private school and run as a Grammar School. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
