Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.
Please Note: Our offices and factory are now closed until Monday 5th January when we will be pleased to deal with any queries that have arisen during the holiday period.

Chequers Lane
A Memory of Dagenham.
My late father, Verdun Frederick Davis, was born in the Chequers Lane Cottages, I think it was no 9, on the 29th Feb 1916, one of 10 children with only Amy still living. His father was a Thames Lighterman who was employed by Sammies, he was also a good Quoits player. My mother Marjory Davis, now 91, is still alive and living in sheltered accomodation in Dagenham. I myself was born in Dagenham in 1937 in Hardie Rd, when it backed onto massive corn fields and apart from 2 years National Service have always lived in Dagenham.

Although I can't imagine living there today, I remember having the best of times there, everyone knew each other. I remember Graham Cox, Janet and Maureen Tillyard, Mrs Zoober, Mrs Kemp, Mrs Rush,
Old Lady Clark next to the alley way opposite the St.Piers, and quite a few more. The ditch at the back and the sports field at the front beyond the allotments, Merryfields, Wonder why there aren't any photos of the cottages.Just remembered was it you or your sister used to take us to Brownies at the Methodist Church in the Heathway
I remember bonfire nights we always had the biggest bonfires ever, all us kids used to spend our time collecting any old rubbish and papers for it and the men would get the biggest sleepers for the centre pole and then make the frame. Summer holidays spent at Leys swimming pool with Oxo to warm us up!
Oh such lovely memories! I could go on and on.
