Happy Days In Dagenham
A Memory of Dagenham.
Have only just found this site, but what memories it brings back. Dad moved to Hedgemans Road when he was about 6 and mum moved to Fanshawe Crescent when she was about 9. They met on Heathway Station and married at Old Dagenham Church in 1943. I moved away from Marston Avenue where mum still lives in 1969 and live near King's Lynn. I went to Alibon Road School for a short while before being moved to Five Elms, then to Halbutt Street. Who remembers the formation dancing team in the charge of the boys English teacher H.H.Aston? Jimmy Ayres, Alfie Blake, Stephen Birch, Philip Zelkin, Alan Pocock, Brian Moore, David Apps, ? Linda Mallett, Diane Kurl, Jeanette Stone, Iris Lambert, Monica Winters, ?, ?, ?, Hope I have got the names right, but who have I missed?, I have just spent ages looking for the two photographs that Mr. Aston took, found the informal one with the boys kneeling and the ladies sitting but could not find the formal one with us all standing. That is the one that I wrote the names on years ago!
