More about this scene
Formerly Garbrand Hall, this two-storied, five-bayed stuccoed house stands at the centre of the village, and was built on a Tudor site around 1775. The pedimented conservatories on either side of the main building were added later. In 1860 the house was occupied by George and Elizabeth Torr, and by 1879 it was famed for its gardens and its annual display of azaleas, but in the mid 1920s it was turned into a school for girls.
