Leighton Buzzard, Grand Union Canal And Globe Inn c.1965

More about this scene
There has been a hostelry on this site for many centuries, but this version was originally built to cater for the navigators who built the canal. Later it welcomed the hard men and women who plied their trade on the waters. Now its clientele are weekenders, fishermen and passing motorists. There is some evidence of conservation activity in the new saplings planted in the foreground of the photograph.
