More about this scene
Swings and donkey rides were available for the children; note the striped bathing huts and (left) a temporary stage for the concert party, Carlton's Cosy Corner, higher up the beach. The Clifton Arms Hotel is at the far right. The levelling of the ground to form Lytham Green was done in the mid 19th century, and the Commissioners ordered the laying of turf.
