A Memory of Sale.

The little van that can be seen in the photo was my dadss. He owned the shop on the corner of Springfield Rd (Baker Bros), an ironmongers. Lots of your parents would have known it. Used to sell everything. Happy Days.

I used to know that shop as Groves, the newsagent. I used to go in on my way to Springfield Primary School ☺
My friends father,Arthur Baker owned the ironmongers on the corner of Springfield Road for years It was an amazing shop and nails could be bought by weight I also remember Sale had 4 cinemas There was the Palace in Ashton Lane ,the Odeon on the main road, the Savoy in Ashton Lane and the Warwick on the corner of Temple Road and Northenden
Road My father owned a newsagents shop on Cross Street in Sale opposite the Volunteer Hotel from 1947-1965
