Being Pushed By An Elephant
One of my earliest memories was from in a push chair. The zoo was parading through the street, I don't know which street though, and this elephant steps up onto the pavement and forces my mother back into the hedge. I have a surreal memory of that huge leg being very close to me.

Better Late Than Never
I met my wife Dorothy in Northampton. She came from Cheadle. Incidentally I was born at Ryton-on-Tyne. One day Dorothy asked me if I would like to move to Cheadle so I got a map out and what caught my eye was a place called ...Read more

Bishton 1945 1950

War
The Blitz started with the Sirens wailing in the early evenings, to warn of the approach of enemy planes. Then complete silence for quite a long time as we waited with mounting apprehension in the passage way, mother, myself, Dennis and David ...Read more

Burnham On Crouch 1948/1973
Our family moved to Burnham from Wimbledon, Raynes Park, in late 1948, to 34 Lillian Road when I was 4. We came like pioneers of the west in the back of my father's employer's canvas covered Ford truck; mum & ...Read more

My Grandparents House!
My grandparents, H.W.G White and his wife Kathleen, lived at Wheatleys, were my sister and I spent our school holidays. Fond memories of the Hedgers, who lived at the hall. Miss Monk, from the little bungalow at the back ...Read more
