Colerne In The Second World War

My parents and I came to Colerne in late 1939, having left London shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, and lived at Ford, a few miles from Colerne, for a few months. That winter, of 1939-40, was a hard ...Read more

Danson Park & Bellegrove Road

Growing up in the 1950s I remember spending a lot of time going to Danson Park; it was always an all day thing as I had to catch two buses to get there. I lived in Upper Belvedere (off Parsonage Manorway) and caught the ...Read more

The Photo Of Guildford, Punting 1895

Whilst the man is 'punting' he is in fact the ferryman and the boat is the Ferry at St Catherine. A replica was built in the 1960s (?) and was used for some years prior to the building of the present bridge. Mr Peter Turner who lives in Meadow Bank nearby might be more help.
