More about this scene
The memorial at the edge of the green was erected in 1878 as a memorial to seventeen parishioners who perished during their voyage to New Zealand. Their ship, the Cospatrick, caught fire near the island of Tristan da Cunha in November 1874. The 15th-century Shaven Crown inn, on the right, was once a guesthouse for visitors to Bruern Abbey.
