Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Opened in 1885, the pier cost something in the order of £30,000 to build. The North Channel provided a navigable stretch of water close to the head, and thus several large steamers and private yachts were able to moor here. The notice advertising 'Fred Carlton's White Coons' could well raise an eyebrow today.

My experiences of the St Anne's Pier Entrance took place in 1955. After sailing my boat on the nearby model boat pond, I was given a few coppers to spend in the games arcade which was just inside the entrance. Most involved flicking a ball bearing around a vertical loop, hoping to see the ball fall into a hole which would result in a cascade of pennies falling into the little tray.
