My father Stan Wilson grew up in a cottage on the marshes at West Thurrock where his father was the resident engineer for the adjacent Pumping Station (Sewage?). I was born in No.5 Peaceful Row (Bug Alley) and remember it well, I left in 1953. We played on the meadow and in the railway sidings, the level crossing was replaced by the bridge and the Manor Way is now a dead end.
