Haverhill, Queen's Square c.1965

More about this scene
In the early 1960s Haverhill was named the Pioneer of Town Expansion, thanks to its receiving 'London Overspill' industries and workers. The provision of new facilities and shops was a priority, and in consequence many areas were demolished. These harsh new concrete structures replaced shops on this side of Queen Street - the retention of an old lamp-post (with a new top) does little to compensate.
