More about this scene
This building at the foot of Park Lane, with its stuccoed walls, pedimented porch, and ornamental iron gates, was built around 1820 as the lodge to Cheam Park House. That edifice failed to survive the Second World War, having been wrecked by a V1 flying bomb in July 1944. Its owners then gave the park to the borough council. The lodge, in Park Lane, is still standing, although in a sadly dilapidated condition.
