This view is in the heart of the village, where Green Street meets the High Street at a small green with a 1920s War Memorial cross.
Now within the village, Frith's photographer looks down one of the estate roads, with their undistinguished 'Anywheresville' modern houses, towards the High Street.
The village main street is little changed, although Bel and the Dragon on the right is no longer also a garage.
Here we see a lovely view of the wide flower-flecked green on what looks like a warm evening. Littlebourne has a long history, and had a closely-knit community in those days.
The garden pond is deep, but little water is visible. The village was a popular coach trip destination from the coastal resorts; now visitors travel in their cars.
Pilchard fishing was also carried on, and a few boats are drawn up on the beach.

Sheep fleeces were the raw material for the five mills which were once working in the village. Chair-making was another speciality, and there is still a chair-maker here by the church.
On the east side of the village, overlooking the Welland Valley, the church for the most part dates from the 13th and 14th centuries, including the tower and its broach spire.
Bardfield has a wealth of old buildings: the house on the left is 15th-century, as is Gobions - the distant white house.

Around 350 years before this tranquil scene was captured, horses like these would have been ridden around the village by the knights of King Henry VIII.
This is the birthplace of the celebrated 20th-century actress, Dame Sybil Thorndike. Little has changed here over the years, despite the growth of the paper mill.

The village green was known as the heath, and on the left we can see the Heath Engineering Works. In the centre is the Institute, and the shop with the blind down was F Bromley, a butcher's.
