On the other side of the Wharfe is the 12th- century church of St Michael and All Angels, given to the monks of Coverham Abbey in 1241.
The south-west side of Ware High Street changed drastically when it was decided to build a new Tesco Store in 1960.
A Tudor extension was added to the west of the building in 1560.Here we have an excellent view of part of the moat around the brick and wooden-framed manor house.

Beverley's beers were certainly best at the Horse and Jockey (left) back in 1959. Now the village's oldest pub is almost the only remaining building in this picture.
