This is a good close-up view of the main exhibition building that backed onto Talbot Road, which got its name when Sir Humphry Trafford married Lady Annette Talbot in 1823.
We are close to Blackpool and Garstang. The old road curved through Little and Great Eccleston, but the by-pass of 1940 split these two villages.

By the time the railway arrived in Blackpool in 1846, the town was already a resort attracting several thousand visitors a year. Baileys Hotel, later the Metropole, had opened in 1776.
Dreamland soon became the Londoner's equivalent of Blackpool's pleasure beach.
The railway reached Fleetwood in July 1840, six years before Blackpool. The line was single-track and ran from Preston via Kirkham, Poulton and Thornton.
