Knaphill High Street

On the left of the picture just past the pub sign shows the old orchard. Shops were built here and my Father owned the one next to the pub. We moved there in 1959, so I imagine this photo should be dated 1955.

60 Gonsolva Road

60 Gonsolva Road...I lived here from 1947 until my family had to move out in 1960. Slum clearance they called it. One car in the road. The Batty family, who lived further down the road, went hopping every year. A flat back lorry ...Read more

The Best Years Of My Life

Happy memories indeed. For an eight year old living in the village in the mid 1950s it was heaven. Long summer evenings and school holidays playing in woods, open fields and on building sites. Or cycling (yes at eight) ...Read more

Foggy Days On The Way To School

We used to live in Sherrard Road and I attended Monega Road School. I remember some real pea soupers where I'd walk to school by following the walls of the houses as I went along. Otherwise couldn't see more than a ...Read more

Baptism

My memory of the Penllwyn was being baptised. At that time it was called the Penllwyn Mission. The Baptism took place where the bar now stands. Also my wedding reception was held there in 1972.
